“Current society has replaced all reality and meaning with symbols and signs”, Jean Baudrillard wrote in Simulacra and Simulation. “The simulacrum is never that which conceals the truth - it is the truth which conceals that there is none. The simulacrum is true”, said Ecclesiastes.

Subtitles to the works may or may not be true. They may conceal that the works are  symbols and signs , or they may be simulacra: Do they tell a true story or do they just make you believe in a story which is made up?
